China’s foreign trade import and export showed strong resilience in the first half of the year

Beijing, July 13 (Reporter Du Haitao) According to customs statistics, the total import and export value of China’s goods trade in the first half of this year was 19.8 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%. Among them, the export was 11.14 trillion yuan, up by 13.2%; Imports reached 8.66 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.8%.

Data show that in the first half of the year, China’s general trade import and export amounted to 12.71 trillion yuan, up by 13.1%, accounting for 64.2% of China’s total foreign trade import and export value, up by 2.1 percentage points year-on-year. In the same period, the import and export of processing trade was 4.02 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.2%. In the first half of the year, China’s import and export of mechanical and electrical products amounted to 9.72 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.2%, accounting for 49.1% of China’s total foreign trade import and export value. The import and export of agricultural products was 1.04 trillion yuan, up 9.3%, accounting for 5.2%. In the same period, the export of labor-intensive products was 1.99 trillion yuan, up by 13.5%, accounting for 17.8% of the total export value. Imports of crude oil, natural gas, coal and other energy products totaled 1.48 trillion yuan, an increase of 53.1%, accounting for 17.1% of the total import value.

The CPC Central Committee efficiently coordinated epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development. Since May, with the overall improvement of epidemic prevention and control situation in China, the effects of various steady growth policies have gradually appeared, and the resumption of work and production of foreign trade enterprises has been promoted in an orderly manner, especially the rapid recovery of import and export in the Yangtze River Delta and other regions, which has driven the overall growth rate of foreign trade in China to rebound significantly. In May, China’s foreign trade import and export increased by 9.5% year-on-year, 9.4 percentage points faster than that in April, and the growth rate in June further increased to 14.3%.

The relevant person in charge of the General Administration of Customs said that in the first half of the year, China’s foreign trade import and export showed strong resilience, and the first quarter started smoothly. In May and June, it quickly reversed the downward trend of growth rate in April. At present, China’s foreign trade development still faces some unstable and uncertain factors, and there are still many pressures to ensure stability and improve quality. However, it should also be noted that the fundamentals of China’s strong economic resilience, sufficient potential and long-term improvement have not changed. With the implementation of national policies and measures to stabilize the economy, and the orderly progress of resumption of work and production, China’s foreign trade is expected to continue to maintain steady growth, and there is still a solid foundation for promoting the stability and quality of foreign trade.
